Our School Curriculum

Primary (3 - 6 years old)

The Montessori Primary program offers a unique, mixed-age classroom environment, for children approximately 3 to 5 years old. Here, children engage in individual learning experiences, as well as one-on-one interactions.

Children use concrete materials to learn math; movable alphabet letters to explore language; and cubes, cylinders and other objects to categorize, find spatial relationships, and more.

Elementary (6 - 12 years old)

Around age six, children graduate from the Montessori Primary class (preschool/kindergarten) into elementary school. At around six, children change both physically (e.g.,the first permanent teeth come in), socially (e.g., a marked eagerness to work in groups versus individually; children become more social), and intellectually (e.g., they are able to grasp more abstract ideas, and become interested in the whys of things, as well as in fairness). Dr. Montessori described this as children entering a new plane of development.

Summer Program

During the summer months the school will teach according to themed week segments.

Montessori Map & Distance Learning

Don’t live near us? No problem! The school founder, Sheila Griffin, has developed an online curriculum option for those that choose to learn at home.

Due to Covid19, we also have a distance learning option available. Local students that sign up will get a kit of materials that can be used with lessons at home. Please contact the school for more information about this option.
